NOTICE OF INSUFFICIENCY. The plaintiff has filed a motion for leave to proceed in forma pauperis (IFP); in other words, he seeks to commence a federal lawsuit without pre-paying the filing fee. A federal law, 28 U.S.C. § 1915, permits him to do so if, among other things, he files a certified copy of his inmate trust account statement for the six-month period preceding his complaint. The plaintiff has now filed a copy of his trust account statement for the relevant period, but he failed to include the required certification. To correct this deficiency, he is directed to refile his inmate trust account statement, attaching a completed Certification of Inmate Account Balance (page five of the District of Connecticuts standard Prisoners Application to Proceed In Forma Pauperis in a Civil Rights Action ), which must be signed by a corrections official. The account statement must cover at least the period from October 15, 2023, to April 15, 2024, and the statement the plaintiff already submitted will be accepted by the Court if refiled with the corresponding certification. In the future, however, the plaintiff need not request permission to respond to court notices about his application to proceed in forma pauperis .
